Duo Transcend Explain Their Accident On ‘America’s Got Talent’

One of the things that makes America’s Got Talent so exciting is that there are always daredevil acts. They never win but they are always fun to watch. Duo Transcend is a really talented husband and wife acrobatic team. On Tuesday’s episode they lived through a potentially lethal accident. Here is what happened according to them.

Tyce and Mary of the Duo Transcend have done these routines a hundred times. The routine has Tyce, who is legally blind, blindfold himself and do all his catches and acrobatic stunts without the benefit of site. That means that all of their cues are auditory. Do you think that becomes a problem with the AGT crowd screaming? Yes. Tyce said,

“We have a music cue that I’m waiting for, but I also give Mary a verbal cue. What happens is, when she falls, when she lets go, I have to place my hands directly in the right spot to catch her feet at the right time or I miss her. You can see in the video, she was already gone, but I have this, like, last effort to still try and get her. And that feeling is just terrifying. I mean, it was miserable. I felt like it lasted so long. It was really uncomfortable.”

Their young son Jaxx was in the audience with his grandmother and, thank God, Mary survived the fall uninjured. That would have been messed up if she had died like that. She said,

“I’m thinking, ‘Can I get in that position fast enough so that I don’t get hurt?’ Because even when you’re trained to fall, sometimes you don’t get to the position you need to fast enough and you can get seriously hurt. I’ve had injuries before from that. I try not to be so emotional, but when my son gets involved, that’s when I just can’t control it.”

It definitely made for good TV, I’m just glad she’s OK.
