Disney Week Is Coming On ‘American Idol’ Whether You Want It Or Not
Ah, Disney. Is there anything more American than Disney? What started out as a guy drawing a mouse in a garage somewhere has become one of the biggest media companies on Earth. They own American Idol, of course, so they are taking us to Disney and are having the singers do covers of songs from Disney films. Will it be awesome? I guess that depends on how much you like Disney songs.
I for one am only “meh” about the whole thing. I get why they are doing it. Not only is it cross-promotion for the parent company but also a lot of people love them some Disney. I know lots of adults with no kids that regularly visit Disneyworld. The last time I was there I was 14 and I wanted to jump off the It’s A Small World boat and drown in the murky green water that hasn’t been changed since 1967. But to each their own, I guess.
The whole thing will pay off for me if Ada Vox sings Poor Unfortunate Souls from The Little Mermaid. She was born to be Ursula the sea witch. But I predict a lot of boring ballads from Pocahontas or what have you. Look for who gets Let It Go and How Far I’ll Go. Those are the contestants the producers want to win.
