Did Kylie Jenner Really Call Herself A ‘Brown Skinned Girl’ In Instagram Post?
Kylie Jenner is under fire after fans are claiming the star captioned her Instagram picture “brown skinned girl.” Screenshots show the star then changed the caption after receiving backlash. Are these screenshots real or fake?
Fans Are Outraged After Kylie Jenner Is Involved In ‘Brown Skinned Girl’ Scandal
The Shade Room first posted side by side screenshots of Kylie’s picture with two different captions. The first picture is reportedly the original with the “brown skinned girl” caption. The second picture shows that the star changed the caption to say “brown eyed girl.” They were unable to confirm whether or not the “brown skinned girl” caption is real or fake. It wasn’t long before people began to criticize Kylie for possibly using this caption. “Are we just gonna act like miss Kylie Jenner did not just caption her selfie “brown skinned girl” and then changed it ONLY because she received backlash. Trash. Absolute trash. Being black is not a trend Kylie. Be better” wrote one person on Twitter.
“@KylieJenner, first of all, you are not a ‘brown skin girl.’ You thought u was slick posting that and then changing the comment to ‘brown eyed girl.’ THIS is why we didn’t want you in the #WAP video. Stop using black culture to your own benefit. It’s weird and clownish. THE NERVE” said another person on Twitter. Kylie has been causing quite a stir lately after appearing in Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s “WAP” music video. Many questioned why Kylie was in the video since they felt it should’ve solely highlighted black artists.
Plus, on the Instagram post that Kylie allegedly edited, the comments section is buzzing with shade. “You were very crazy to think that caption was okay for you. The nerve. ‘Brown skin girl’ ???? Watch, she’ll soon tell us it was a ‘mistake’ or ‘it wasn’t her intention…’ wrote one Instagram user. “It’s the fact that you thought it was ok to say brown skinned girl” said another.
Here’s Why Some Are Saying The Screenshots Are Fake
One Twitter user claims that the screenshots of Kylie’s original caption are fake. “Kylie Jenner didn’t caption her pic with Brown skin girl… you lot will believe anything and it shows lol? the original caption was just emojis. I mean do you really think with all the shit she gets she would PURPOSEFULLY write that” they said. “I mean the brown skinned girl part in the edited picture is VISIBLE if you bring up the brightness lol I hate kylie as much as everyone else but fake woke twitter is annoying. Stan Twitter even more ngl.” Check out this detective work in the tweet below.
Another Kylie fan suggested that the makeup mogul was quoting the Beyonce song called “Brown Skin Girl” and did not realize that it was wrong to post.
This is not the first time a member of the Kardashian/Jenner clan has come under fire for something like this. Kendall Jenner has previously been accused of cultural appropriation after wearing an afro-like hairstyle for a Vogue photoshoot. Kylie along with sister Khloe Kardashian have also been accused of blackfishing, “a modern term that is used to identify people (particularly White women) who utilize artificial tanning (such as tanning beds, tanning lotions, and spray tans) and makeup up to manipulate their facial features and bodies to appear more like someone who has Black/African ancestry.”
Do you think the screenshots of Kylie’s latest scandal are real? And do you think she will address these accusations at some point?
