Did Alicia Keys Turn Her Chair For Artist Singing Her Song On ‘The Voice’? [VIDEO]
Lauren Diaz was pretty bold when she decided to sing “If I Ain’t Got You” by Alicia Keys in front of Alicia Keys herself. But, did the risk pay off? Check out her epic Blind Audition on season 11 of The Voice below.
Lauren Diaz Took A Risk Performing An Alicia Keys Song On ‘The Voice’
Lauren took on the power ballad and Alicia was completely impressed from the start. She quickly turned her chair and danced along to the song, which put a smile on Lauren’s face. Miley Cyrus and Blake Shelton also turned their chairs but knew they stood no chance against Alicia. Alicia was so blown away that she ran up to the stage to give Lauren a hug even before the coaches gave their comments.
“If you want to sing Alicia and then go with me and confuse everybody, it would be ‘Voice’ history” Miley declared. Lauren mentioned that she had a four-year-old son which warmed Alicia’s mama bear heart. “There’s no denying this God-given talent that you have and I just know that you and me are meant to be together,” Alicia said with a smile. She also made it clear she would throw a fit if Lauren chose a different coach, and rightfully so.
Of course, it was a no-brainer and Lauren ended up choosing to be on Team Alicia. Immediately after she earned a spot on the show, her fiance proposed to her backstage. The pair got married while her ‘Voice’ journey was airing on television.
During The Battles, Lauren went head to head with Wé McDonald but surprisingly lost. Luckily, Miley stole her which made her a member of Team Miley. It was bittersweet since she had already formed such a great bond with Alicia. In The Knockouts, Lauren sang “Rise Up” as she went up against Ali Caldwell. She was ultimately eliminated from the competition. “I feel like I’m still in a dream,” she said about being on the show. “This experience has been the best experience of my life.”
Where Is She Now?
After appearing on The Voice, Lauren posted on Facebook to commemorate the experience. “I’m incredibly humbled from this experience,” she wrote. “I don’t regret anything I did on that stage. I gave every performance everything I had.” Lauren has built up quite the Instagram following and brand for herself ever since. She is now a mom to three young boys and has continuously gushed about being a mama bear. “It’s been crazy for us…People want to take pictures, even people at Starbucks will recognize my husband from TV,” she told Daily Press. “But it’s been a very fun experience.”
It is clear that Lauren is very family oriented and loves to spend time with her husband as well. She also has several brand partnerships with hair products along with several brands of snacks.
Though previously a vocal coach, there isn’t much that has to do with singing on Lauren’s social media accounts and it seems like she is currently focusing more on family life.
Would you be bold enough to perform one of the coach’s songs on The Voice right in front of them?
