Why ‘The Bachelor’ Spin-Off is Casting ONLY 65 Years and Older
Contrary to popular belief, The Bachelor isn’t just for young people. At least, not anymore. The show made a big announcement on Monday night that hints at a future season for an older generation.
The Bachelor is currently in Season 24, and typically features contestants in their 20s and 30s. But a casting call during Monday’s new episode is looking for romantics of a much older generation.
‘The Bachelor’ Is Casting Senior Citizens
“Now casting seniors looking for love,” read the announcement, with a direction to visit ABC’s casting page. ABC’s head of reality shows Rob Mills clarified on Twitter that “seniors” refers to people 65 and older.
“Give us your Grumpiest Old Men, give us your Goldenest Girls,” Mills wrote of the casting call. Although he tagged the Bachelor Nation, it looks like the show might be a separate entity. The casting site describes it as a “New Dating Show for Seniors.”
When a Twitter user suggested that the show take place in Boca Raton, Florida (a popular city for retirees), Mills tweeted that “the audience are the best producers.” Maybe he’ll take the suggestion.
How To Sign Up For ABC’s New Dating Show For Seniors
If you’re over 65 and looking for love, or you know someone who is, you can fill out an application here. The casting call asks that applicants be “active and outgoing single men and women age 65 and up.” You should be a U.S. citizen and be “ready for a committed relationship.”
The current season of The Bachelor, featuring Peter Weber, is winding down. Monday night’s episode featured the Fantasy Suite, so the finale is only a few weeks away. Have you been watching? Will you watch this new show for senior citizens? Let us know in the comments.
