David Walliams Reveals Simon Cowell Lost Weight To Make Him ‘Look Fatter In Pictures’
This year, BGT fans can look forward to a Christmas special featuring past contestants. But will judge Simon Cowell appear on the show following his back injury earlier this year?
Fellow judge David Walliams has confirmed whether Simon will make an appearance on the special, and the answer might disappoint you. Read on to find out more about the upcoming special.
David Walliams On Simon Cowell’s Christmas Special Absence
According to The Sun, David Walliams recently said in an interview on The Jonathan Ross Show that Simon Cowell will not appear in the BGT special airing on Christmas Day.
Simon had to miss the BGT live shows this season as he recovered from surgery after falling off his electric bike. Fellow judge Amanda Holden recently teased that Simon “may make an appearance, he may not.”
Now it looks like fans might not want to get their hopes up about it. David Walliams got a little cheeky about Simon’s absence, pointing out that the other judges (including guest judge Ashley Banjo) will be performing on the special.
“We’re kind of competing, we’re actually very competitive,” David said. “Thank god Simon Cowell is not there. What would his talent be? What does he do? He sits there and says no to people, anyone can do that.”
David Comments On Simon’s Weight Loss
“We haven’t seen [Simon] in a while,” David said of his fellow BGT judge. “He lost a lot of weight, I think mainly just to try and make me look fatter in pictures.”
David won’t have to worry about that during the Christmas special, as he’ll get to perform without Simon nearby. The comedian will appear as the Queen, delivering his very own Christmas speech. He teased the moment on Instagram.
The BGT Christmas special will air on ITV Christmas Day at 8 pm. The pre-recorded event will also feature past acts such as Sign Along With Us, dog trainer Ashleigh Butler, and singer Colin Thackery.
