The Dancing With the Stars Season 28 cast reunited one last time for the season finale, during which the finalists danced repeat routines and freestyles and the champions were declared!

The Repeat Dances

Ally and Sasha

Ally Brooke and Sasha Farber dance their jive on the Dancing With the Stars Season 28 finale

Ally re-did her jive to “Proud Mary” from Week 4, with the addition of her singing the beginning of the song. It was an improvement, but her energy got the better of her and she went off time once or twice. The judges didn’t mark down for that, though, which is both typical of the scores given in the finale (and to Ally in general).

Carrie Ann: 10
Len: 10
Bruno: 10
Total: 30/30

Lauren and Gleb

Lauren Alaina and Gleb Savchenko dance their foxtrot on the Dancing With the Stars Season 28 finale

Lauren chose her “Jolene” foxtrot for this round. The music still didn’t fit the dance but Lauren did a very nice job- we have to say, her lines have been the best of any contestant this season! Unfortunately, the judges weren’t feeling it quite as much, and noted her lack of emotion this time around.

Carrie Ann: 9
Len: 9
Bruno: 9
Total: 27/30

Kel and Witney

Kel Mitchell and Witney Carson dance their jazz on the Dancing With the Stars Season 28 finale

Kel chose to redo his High School Musical jazz routine. It was a great dance on Disney Night and was still a great dance in the finale but we can’t help but think doing a jazz and a freestyle on the same night is somewhat unfair to the other contestants due to both dances having a lack of structure and rules.

Carrie Ann: 10
Len: 10
Bruno: 10
Total: 30/30

Hannah and Alan

Hannah Brown and Alan Bersten dance their Viennese Waltz on the Dancing With the Stars Season 28 finale

Hannah performed her Viennese Waltz to “Lover” again, this time with more choreography added towards the end since the original dance was so short. Carrie Ann adored it but Bruno and Len noticed a small misstep or two.

Carrie Ann: 10
Len: 9
Bruno: 9
Total: 28/30

The Freestyles

Ally and Sasha

Ally Brooke and Sasha Farber dance their freestyle on the Dancing With the Stars Season 28 finale

Ally and Sasha kicked off the freestyle round with a Latin-based routine to “Conga”. Sasha did not let up with this choreography, and the routine was so much fun and full of energy. However, there were a couple of snafus with the lifts here and there (which were thankfully recovered from quickly).

Carrie Ann: 10
Len: 10
Bruno: 10
Total: 30/30
Final Score: 60/60

Lauren and Gleb

Lauren Alaina and Gleb Savchenko dance their freestyle on the Dancing With the Stars Season 28 finale

Lauren’s freestyle was set to “Country Girl” and we have to say, this performance had our favorite costumes and set of the night. The choreography was somewhat of a letdown, though, as a lot of it consisted of Lauren sitting down or posing in place. But the bit where she picked up the microphone and showcased her strong pipes for a second was cute.

Carrie Ann: 10
Len: 10
Bruno: 10
Total: 30/30
Final Score: 57/60

Hannah and Alan

Hannah Brown and Alan Bersten dance their freestyle on the Dancing With the Stars Season 28 finale

Hannah danced to TWO songs for her freestyle: “Girl on Fire” and “Hollaback Girl”. The latter was a fitting inclusion seeing how, like Gwen Stefani, Hannah had faced backlash for being cheerleader-like throughout the season! The routine really showed off her range as a dancer and Carrie Ann loved it so much she even waved away a mistake!

Carrie Ann: 10
Len: 10
Bruno: 10
Total: 30/30
Final Score: 58/60

Kel and Witney

Kel Mitchell and Witney Carson dance their freestyle on the Dancing With the Stars Season 28 finale

Kel’s freestyle to “Jump” showcased his hip-hop skills very well…which Len ended up having a problem with. He said it was too much like the jazz routine he did earlier in the night, which didn’t seem fair to us; the routines really weren’t THAT similar. (Though it’s funny how we said we saw having both jazz and freestyle an asset and it turned out to be a bit of a detriment for Kel.)

Carrie Ann: 10
Len: 9
Bruno: 10
Total: 29/30
Final Score: 59/60

And the Winner Of DWTS 2019 Is…

At the end of the night, the final results were announced in reverse order, and the then winner when it came down to the top two…

The Dancing With the Stars Season 28 final results are announced

Fourth Place: Lauren and Gleb
Third Place: Ally and Sasha
Second Place: Kel and Witney
First Place: Hannah and Alan

The champions of Dancing With the Stars Season 28 are Hannah Brown and Alan Bersten! We predicted this result way back before the season even began, and it wasn’t too surprising given that they were the only team to never hit the bottom two.

The Dancing With the Stars Live! cast performs a sneak peek of the tour

No word on a Season 29 or beyond yet, but you can see the pro dancers along with celebrity guests including the finalists, Kate Flannery, and Sailor Brinkley-Cook on the Dancing With the Stars: Live! North American tour in early 2020.
