BIO: Phillip Phillips won the heart of America at only 20 years old on American Idol. After impressing for several weeks on the show, Phillips was brought to the hospital after his Top 13 performance for possible kidney stones. This singer had eight procedures done during the series and considered withdrawing, but he was never in jeopardy of elimination. He won the season and his coronation song “Home” became the best-selling song in American Idol history.

Phillips started playing music when he was 14 years old. He was mentored by his friend/brother-in-law Benjamin Neil. Phillips went on to create a band with Neil and his other brother-in-law Todd Urick. Before auditioning for American Idol, he worked at his family’s pawn shop.

Phillips met wife Hannah Blackwell when he was 18 years old volunteering at a women and children’s center. On October 24, 2015 the couple wed in Albany, Georgia. In November 2019, they welcomed their son, Patch Shepherd Phillips into the world.
