BIO: American Idol season 3 introduced fans to North Carolina born Fantasia Barrino. Fantasia comes from a musical family. Her cousins are R&B duo K-Ci and JoJo and her uncles made up the 1970s R&B band The Barrino Brothers. She auditioned for American Idol at 19 years old and was quickly a frontrunner in the competition. Even after being placed in the bottom two twice, she won the series overall.
Her first single “I Believe” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart right after the conclusion of the series. After that she released her debut album, Free Yourself. This album was such a success that it is certified Platinum and earned her three Grammy nominations.
