Donelly’s career in television began at the age of 12 on CBBC’s show Byker Grove. In this series he met Ant McPartlin. Soon after, the two formed the duo, Ant & Dec. Together they present children’s and unscripted television shows.
Donnelly proposed to the duo’s manager, Ali Astall, in 2014 after one year of dating. They wed in August 2015 at a ceremony conducted by his brother, his comedy partner was his best man. Astall gave birth to their first child, Isla Elizabeth Anne in 2018.
