Keeping up with our theme of, when X-Factor turns XXX Factor, Geo Godley came to his 2011 ‘X Factor’ audition wearing a silver shirt and pants set that was quite eye-catching. He claimed he was a triple threat being able to sing, write, and produce. The judges, on the other hand, were left screaming over his bizarre and offensive audition. Take a look at the big reveal below.
He started singing in elementary school and was classically trained on the piano. During the performance, Geo unbuttoned his shirt to reveal a rainbow t-shirt underneath in a very underwhelming outfit reveal moment. It was his next move that had everyone literally screaming in shock and horror. Geo took his silver pants off to reveal his private parts. At the time it looked like he was completely naked but it was later revealed that he was wearing a cheetah print thong. The camera actually panned to show some members of the audience leaving their seats because they were so repulsed by this act. All the while, Geo continued to sing his song about being a “stud.”
Judge Paula Abdul actually stood up and walked away from the judging panel while the performance was still going on. She was gagging and coughing like she had to throw up. “What the bloody hell was that?” Simon asked when Geo’s performance was finally over. “That was offensive, disgusting, distasteful, upsetting. Get him out of the building please” said judge L.A. Reid. Nicole Scherzinger said she was “traumatized” by the whole thing.
After his revealing performance, “the Parents Television Council filed a formal broadcast indecency complaint with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) against Fox Broadcasting” according to the Daily News. Geo’s act aired after 9:00 PM, an hour where indecent content is not allowed on broadcast television. “As the broadcast decency law comes before the United States Supreme Court in the coming term, Fox has offered a compelling demonstration as to why that law needs to be upheld. If Godley performed his act in public, he would have been arrested. But if he performs it in front of a Fox camera, his act is beamed via the public airwaves into every home in the nation” said PTC president Tim Winter. Geo later told TMZ that the dance was traditional in his Greek Island culture.
He also apologized saying “I apologize to anyone that was exposed to my behind… I had no intention of showing it and it was an accident when I fell. I was caught up in the moment.” Geo now posts videos on Vimeo after a brief stint posting on YouTube. His website claims YouTube is a scam because the platform “LIES CHEATS & STEALS INFINITE CONTENT.” It is unclear if this anger stems from his ‘X Factor’ audition.
He has also been an advocate for animal rights, recently tweeting about dismantling dairy farms and animal cruelty. But it’s definitely safe to say that Geo does not really have a booming music career after his traumatic ‘X Factor’ audition. Plus let us know if you think Geo’s audition was offensive or funny?
