Contestant BLASTS Simon Cowell After Getting Called ‘Worst Singer Ever’ [VIDEO]
FOX Season four of American Idol saw one of the most interesting performers of all time, Mary Roach. She was hurt by some of the things that Simon Cowell had to say about her audition and did not hold back. Watch the audition below and see Simon in full savage mode.
Mary Roach Was Hurt By Simon Cowell’s Harsh Words On ‘American Idol’
There was a long dramatic pause before any of the judges said anything after Mary performed. The level of awkwardness in the room was real. “How do you think you did” Simon finally asked. “Not too shabby,” Mary said confidently. “Honestly one of the worst I’ve ever heard in my life” Simon said to Mary’s surprise. Mary questioned what Simon’s intentions were because she felt like he was just trying to annoy her. “What made you audition for this competition?” he asked. “All my friends told me that I was an awesome singer” she responded which was met with shock. “Not only can you not sing a note in tune, but you also have one of the weirdest voices I’ve ever heard in my life” Simon continued.

Mary said that she would not walk out of the room crying like other people have in the past. She also mentioned she has tons of voices in her head saying “I didn’t know the judges on American Idol would think that I was terrible. They’re also saying Mark McGrath is a hottie.” He joined the judges during this part of the auditions. “All of y’all look different in person,” she said to the judges. She pictured Simon to be bigger and Paula Abdul was “prettier” than she originally thought. She also said that Randy Jackson was thinner than she originally thought. Mary was pretty shocked that the judges did not vote to send her through to Hollywood.
Where Is Mary Now?
She left the audition room trying to hold back tears that day. “I am never going to pursue my singing career again…ever,” she said. Instead, she vowed to go to beauty school. She began saying expletives and cursing out the judges during her exit interview with the exception of Paula because she was a “sweetheart.” Mary’s audition went viral and she actually became quite the phenomenon. She inspired several parodies of her audition.
She actually did end up pursuing being an esthetician, even though a singing career was her first choice. Mary also began posting fan videos on Instagram but is not very active. From time to time she will temporarily check in with her Instagram followers and give them an update on her life. Most recently, she wrote on Instagram “I still wanted to tell you all that I am okay, and that I love and miss you all! Hope you can all understand why I am not on this account often.” We assume it’s because of some of the negative comments she received about her American Idol performance.

It definitely seems like Simon’s words cut deep as Mary has given up singing for good.
