Contestant Accuses Demi Lovato Of Using Autotune After Receiving Harsh Critique [VIDEO]
Shawn Armenta prepared four hours a day for a year and a half for his big ‘X Factor’ audition. The 50-year-old was extremely confident that he would wow the judges with his dance moves and an original song. But, he was in for quite the surprise when they had some harsh critiques about his act. Watch the cringe-worthy audition below.
Shawn Armenta Clapped Back At Demi Lovato On ‘The X Factor’
Shawn performed his own original song called “Candy Girl” a song which he explained is about meeting cute local girls at the bar. As if this wasn’t odd enough, he promised to show off some dance moves he had been working hard in the studio on. Immediately when the music began, Shawn busted out some dance moves that nobody was expecting. It was like a combination of doing the robot and imitating Michael Jackson. “You’re like a mouse trying to be an elephant,” Simon Cowell said after the performance ended abruptly. “Why because a 50-year-old is doing it?” Shawn asked annoyed. “It’s got nothing to do with your age, well maybe it has but it’s just wrong” Simon continued. Shawn continued to argue with the judges saying that he worked really hard and knows that he is a good singer.
“A lot of people work really really hard for their dreams but it’s not for everybody,” judge Demi Lovato said. “That’s why you use autotune and I don’t,” Shawn said to Demi. At this point, Simon nearly spit out the water he had in his mouth. Judge Britney Spears came to Demi’s defense asking how Shawn even got on the stage. Before walking off, Shawn told L.A. Reid that he writes better songs than him.
Where Is He Now?
After his ‘X Factor’ audition went sour, Shawn said that what was shown on television was not actually the full story. “They edited it to fit their needs for controversy. They didn’t show any of the applause after I was done” he said in an interview. “What actually happened was that I shut them down for three to five minutes because they were getting booed. The panel was getting booed. And they couldn’t show that on television. But it’s all good, it’s television: It’s done for entertainment and fun and ratings.” Although he got a ton of flack from the judges during his audition, it didn’t stop Shawn from continuing his music career. And if you’re one of the people that loved Shawn’s song “Candy Girl” he uploaded a full music video on his YouTube channel.
Most recently, he uploaded a cover of the song “Suddenly” from Les Miserables and it’s actually…..good! Shawn has definitely improved when it comes to his vocals and the range of his voice.
Are you shocked by the improvement of Shawn’s voice? We definitely are and feel like he should definitely redeem himself by trying out for another reality talent competition.
