Coach Gets Emotional As His BROTHER Auditions For ‘The Voice’ [VIDEO]
ITV It’s not every day that a coach on The Voice gets to turn their chair around for a relative. But that’s what happened when Guy Sebastian’s brother Chris Sebastian auditioned for the ninth season of the show’s Australian version.
Guy became emotional as he talked about his bond with his brother. But did Chris choose him as his coach? Watch his audition below, and read on to find out how far he went in the competition.
Chris Sebastian Auditions For ‘The Voice’ Australia
Chris had previously auditioned for The Voice Australia in Season 1, turning two chairs. He joined Team Seal, but didn’t make it further than the semifinals. He returned for Season 9, singing “Jealous” by Labrinth in his blind audition.
After the first line of the song, both Boy George and Guy Sebastian turned their chairs. Guy seemed to know it was his brother singing before he turned around. Eventually, both Kelly Rowland and Delta Goodrem turned around, meaning Chris had four chair turns.

Delta recognized Chris from his last time auditioning, but Boy George and Kelly had no idea he was related to Guy until he shared his last name with the coaches. Guy shared that he and Chris are “tight,” and got choked up as he talked about him.
“I’ve got three brothers,” Guy said through tears, before addressing Chris. “I’m so proud of you, bro.” When asked if Guy could coach him, he said Chris has learned a lot on his own, and said he didn’t want to make things “awkward” for him.
Did Chris Choose His Brother Guy As His Coach?
You might assume that Chris would automatically choose Guy as his coach on The Voice, but Kelly Rowland made strong a case for herself. “I know the songs that we could do together,” Kelly told him, as the audience cheered. “I know how much fun we could have with music.”

The pitch seemed to work, because Chris chose Kelly as his coach. It turned out to be a great decision, because not only did Chris make it further in the competition than he did his first time on the show, he also won the entire season of The Voice!
Although Chris and The Voice received some backlash from viewers who didn’t think it was fair that his brother Guy was one of the coaches, the singer said he wasn’t upset by it. “At the end of the day, there are people that voted for me so I’m going to sing for them,” Chris said. “If the others don’t want to listen, that’s all good.”
