‘The Voice’s Chevel Shepherd Reveals Her DIRTY Little Secret to Winning
In our red carpet interview with Chevel Shepherd this week, The Voice semifinalist revealed a dirty little secret! She has a good luck charm that she NEVER washes. Even though she swears it doesn’t stink, we’re not buying it. And apparently we’re not the only ones!
So what is Chevel Shepherd’s dirty little secret to winning? Let’s hear it from “Country Tinkerbell” herself:
That’s right, Chevel Shepherd’s good luck charm is an unwashed pair of mismatched music note socks. She claims they don’t stink and only smell like boots, but we’re skeptical. The reason why she doesn’t wash them is that she doesn’t want the luck to “wash out.” Seems legit. The rest of Team Kelly shared less exciting pre-performance rituals. Sarah Grace warms up and hugs her trumpet and Kymberli Joye prays before each performance!
But along with Chevel’s new nickname from her coach Kelly Clarkson this week, “Country Tinkerbell” is showing a lot of personality lately! This is key to making it far in a talent show like The Voice. Knowing quirky facts or nicknames for contestants make them memorable, which can in turn compel people to vote for them. I think back to Matt McAndrew being known as “Sexy Harry Potter” (maybe not officially, but you know) or Chloe Kohanski’s colorful eye makeup or Sawyer Fredericks’ hats.
Chevel Shepherd has also developed a lot as an artist though. And at this point, I wouldn’t be surprised to see her in the Finale! She has separated herself as the only female country artist plus she’s only 14 so viewers love that. And while we can’t find pictures of these good luck charm socks, we’ll take Chevel’s word for it. They’ve been working for her so far this season. All I’m going to say is, she better not wash them before the Top 8 next week!
