Chadwick Boseman Was Body-Shamed And Called ‘Crack Panther’ While He Battled Cancer

Actor Chadwick Boseman recently passed away after a four-year battle with colon cancer. He had kept his diagnosis to himself while he continued to film movies like Black Panther.
Sadly, Chadwick faced body shaming during his cancer battle, from people who had no idea that his weight loss was related to illness. Cruel tweets have resurfaced on social media in the days since his death.

Some of the comments expressed concern about Chadwick’s health, while others simply made jokes at his expense. That includes tweets calling him “Crack Panther,” a play on his iconic role. Chadwick reportedly hid photos from his feed and turned off comments.
After Chadwick’s death, social media was reminded of these cruel comments about his appearance. People called out the body-shamers who had made jokes about his weight loss.
Some pointed out that you never know what someone is going through in private, while others argued that it shouldn’t matter if someone is fighting an illness or not — mocking their appearance is never okay.

On August 28, Chadwick Boseman’s Twitter account posted a message announcing the actor’s death. The post explained that he had been diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016, and that the disease had progressed to stage IV.
