We’ve seen plenty of dog acts on AGT over the years, but the Savitsky Cats proved that felines can show off some pretty amazing tricks as well. The act auditioned for the show in 2018.

Even Simon Cowell, an avid dog lover, seemed impressed by the performance. He expressed some skepticism before they started, but by the end he was applauding along with everyone else.

Savitsky Cats Perform On ‘AGT’

The Savitsky Cats were trained by mother-daughter duo Svitlana and Maryna, who are from Ukraine. When they explained that they trained cats, Simon Cowell asked them simply, “Why?” After they told him they have 10 cats and one dog, he replied, “That poor dog.”

It was clear that Simon didn’t really take the act seriously, but they soon proved him wrong. The cats performed amazing tricks like jumping through hoops, leaping over each other, and crawling across bars.

One of the cats jumped from one pedestal to the other through a paper circle. This seemed to be enough to convince Simon Cowell, who immediately applauded. And don’t miss the grand finale, in which a cat climbs to the top of a very high pole and then jumps into Svitlana’s arms.

Where Are The Savitsky Cats Now?

The Savitsky Cats earned four “yes” votes from the judges to move on to the next round of AGT, and they ended up making it to the quarterfinals of Season 13. Their quarterfinals performance was a spoof of Keeping Up with the Kardashians that had Simon Cowell cracking up so much he couldn’t talk.

Since their time on the show, the Savitsky Cats have appeared as a part of Big Apple Circus, and later at the NBA All-Star Game. “You cannot force a cat to do something unless she wanted to do [it],” Maryna told NPR of the act. “Until she wants, she will not do it.” However, petting and treats definitely help.
