Carrie Underwood Performs in Spanish at Latin AMAs

American Idol winner Carrie Underwood joined David Bisbal on the Latin AMAs stage this week for a powerhouse performance of their bilingual song “Tears of Gold.”
Fans were wowed when they heard Underwood singing in Spanish in this electrifying performance.

Underwood dressed in a black jumpsuit with glittery gold cape for the performance. Bisbal coordinated with her in a black, shimmering suit. The singers were surrounded by hanging lights as they sang. At the song’s finale, sparklers lit up around them.
The the song was released in December 2020 along with a dramatic music video. The track was featured on Bisbal’s rerelease of his album En Tus Planes.
Like Underwood, Bisbal started his career on a talent show. He was runner-up on Operación Triunfo in Spain.

“I am very proud of our first collaboration,” Bisbal said of the duet. “The video was shot in Los Angeles and it was very special because I love Carrie and truly admire her courage. She has shown a profound admiration for the Spanish language with her wonderful vocals on the track and I am honored to collaborate with Carrie on her first bilingual Spanish song.”
What Do Fans Think of the Performance?
In an interview before the AMAs performance, Underwood said she was “honored” to perform with Bisbal. “Tears of Gold” is her 6-year-old son Isaiah’s favorite song she’s ever recorded.

Fans loved seeing Underwood sing in Spanish. One Twitter user wrote that it was “something I didn’t know I needed” and another called her “my queen.”
“As a Spanish native speaker this means a lot,” wrote another fan on YouTube. Someone else suggested that Carrie should record “a whole Spanish album.”
