American Idol is by far one of the longest running singing competition shows on television. This series began in 2002 on FOX and remains on air on ABC in 2022. After 20 years on air this series has seen an array of singers and some big name winners.
American Idol is known for discovering some of the biggest names as a part of their competition. It feels like just yesterday Chayce Beckham was announced as the last winner of American Idol. After rising to fame within the series he’s gone on to have quite the career in country music. It’s now only a matter of time until American Idol receives their $250,000 cash prize and recording contract with Hollywood Records.
American Idol Returns to TV
The long running series returns to ABC on February 27 at 8 p.m. This show will be broadcast live, in addition it will be streamable on Hulu. Last season’s celebrity cast has returned to the stage and we couldn’t be more excited. Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie, and Ryan Seacrest will all continue on this season.
Since the series is celebrating a giant anniversary, there is a huge surprise in store. This season introduces the Platinum Ticket in addition to the Golden Ticket. Differing from last season, Bobby Bones will not be returning as the mentor. Bones had to sit this season of American Idol out due to scheduling conflicts. Filming of this series began last October in Austin, Texas, so I can’t wait to see what’s right around the corner.
