Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt has been diagnosed with stage three lung cancer. Reports of this diagnosis comes after the star took to Twitter to announce that he will be taking a break from work.
Sanjay Dutt Has Been Diagnosed With Stage 3 Lung Cancer
In the tweet, Dutt wrote “Hi friends, I am taking a short break from work for some medical treatment. My family and friends are with me and I urge my well-wishers not to worry or necessarily speculate. With your love and good wishes, I will be back soon.” According to Times of India, the 61-year-old “was recently admitted to Lilavati hospital after there was an accumulation of fluid in his lungs which was cleared and a test was done.” On August 10, he was discharged from a hospital in Mumbai after revealing that he tested negative for COVID-19.
“Just wanted to assure everyone that I’m doing well. I’m currently under medical observation and my COVID-19 report is negative. With the help and care of the doctors, nurses and staff at Lilavati hospital, I should be home in a day or two. Thank you for your well wishes and blessings,” he tweeted after being admitted to the hospital. But, it turns out his symptoms were due to lung cancer. He has a history with lung problems after suffering a lung collapse in the 80s which he also sought treatment for in the United States. If he does not get permission to travel to the United States with ongoing COVID travel restrictions, he will look to Singapore for treatment.
The Next Steps For Sanjay As He Seeks Treatment
A friend of Dutt’s told Times Of India that the actor needs immediate treatment to fight off this cancer. His wife Maanayata Dutt is currently in Dubai with their nine-year-old twins. He is reportedly worried about seeing his kids and recently has been posting about how much he misses his family throughout his battle.
His older daughter Trishala with his late wife Richa Sharma just celebrated her 32nd birthday and thanked everyone for the well wishes. She was raised in the United Stated by her grandparents and did not mention her father’s diagnoses on her Instagram account. But, she did say it has been a “challenging year.” Dutt is currently set to star in the film Sadak 2 which is out on August 28.
Bollywood fans gave their well wishes to the actor on Twitter wishing him health and happiness. Dutt has been such a pioneer of Hindi movies and mastered each and every role he has played.
What Is The Survival Rate Of Stage 3 Lung Cancer?
The severity and spread of tumors brought on by this form of cancer very from person to person. So therefore, the survival rates can also differ. There is a 61% five-year survival rate for the mildest form of this stage of cancer. People diagnosed with stage three lung cancer live for at least five years after their diagnoses. It is not yet clear whether Dutt’s cancer has spread outside of his lung. If it has spread to other nodes outside of his lung, the survival rate is 35%.
Symptoms or signs of lung cancer include a cough that does not go away or gets worse, coughing up blood, chest pain that is often worse with deep breathing, shortness of breath and feeling tired or weak. You can see a full list of symptoms on cancer.org. If lung cancer spreads to other parts of the body, it can cause bone pain, yellowing of the skin and nervous system changes.
We really do wish Sanjay Dutt the best and hope he gets the medical treatment he needs to fight this battle.
