‘BGT’s Ant McPartlin Steps Down After Drunk Driving Arrest

Ant McPartlin has been having a hell of time lately. He’s going through a nasty divorce very much in the public spotlight while at the same time trying to work with his partner Declan Donnelly on Britain’s Got Talent and Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway. All the while trying to recover from drug and alcohol problems. It seems that Ant has fallen off the wagon when he was arrested for drunk driving.
Ant was out on Sunday when he smashed into a couple of cars. The cops came and discovered that he had been drinking and took him into custody. Sometimes you need a wake-up call and hopefully this is it for Ant. He has decided to go back to an alcohol and drug treatment facility, which is great. His publicist said,
“Ant has decided to go back into treatment and step down from his current TV commitments. He has spoken with Dec [Declan Donnelly] and ITV today and asked for time off for the foreseeable future. As such Saturday Night Takeaway will not be going ahead this Saturday.”
ITV added,
“ITV has taken a joint decision with Ant and Dec’s team not to broadcast Saturday Night Takeaway this weekend. We will be reviewing options for the last two episodes of the series (March 31 and April 7), which would not feature Ant, who is taking time off to seek treatment. We very much hope that he gets the help that he needs.”
