‘BGT’ Contestant Plays ‘Despacito’ On The Recorder

Miguel said he was “extremely nervous” before his audition on BGT. The 56-year-old told the judges he was born in Mexico, but moved to Stockport in England. When asked why he came on the show, he replied, “I don’t know now because I’m so nervous.”

His sense of humor charmed Alesha Dixon, and when he told the judges he was going to play music “with all my love,” Amanda Holden appeared touched. However, when Miguel pulled out a recorder, Simon Cowell looked skeptical.

Simon ended up buzzing the act not long after Miguel started playing. Meanwhile, his fellow judges enjoyed the performance, especially when Miguel started playing “Despacito” by Luis Fonsi.

Alesha, Amanda, and David stood up and started dancing and clapping along. Miguel also performed “Seniorita” by Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello, earning him cheers from the audience.

What Did The Judges Think Of Miguel’s Audition?

Simon Cowell rolled his eyes over the positive reaction to Miguel’s performance. David Walliams told Miguel that he “smashed it.” He said it was “strange” that Simon buzzed the act.

“I buzzed because this is an instrument you are forced to play at school, hate it, and never want to hear it again,” Simon explained.

Amanda Holden told Miguel that he made the recorder “quite sexy.” David called him “a hot guy with a beautiful instrument you want to share with the world.”

Miguel earned three “yes” votes from the judges, although he didn’t end up making it to the semifinals. You can follow Miguel’s YouTube channel to see even more recorder performances.
