As audition filming continues for this year’s Britain’s Got Talent, it has been reported that one particular audition went horribly wrong. After an escape artist nearly drowned to death, Simon Cowell was left to step in and halt the performance. Here’s what happened.
Escapist act nearly drowns during BGT auditions
It has been reported that the escapist act took to the BGT audition stage this week, locking himself in a pool of water. All four judges had keys and it was only with all four keys that the escapist could leave the box. However, David Walliams was not asked for his key by the on stage assistant. Ultimately, this left the escapist trapped in the pool of water in danger of drowning.
Here’s what a source had to say about the terrifying moment:
“It was horrible. David looked absolutely mortified as Simon started trying to signal producers to stop production and a medic was called in. It looked like it was part of the act to begin with, but it soon dawned on everyone that it wasn’t.”
“Thankfully they were able to correct themselves but there was a real moment where we thought it could end in disaster and it was clear everyone was beginning to panic.”
Sneak Peak at ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ 2020
Britain’s Got Talent 2020 is officially in the works and will be returning to our screens VERY soon. Sneak peak videos, uploaded by fans in the audience can give us a look into what we can expect from the new series.
In the video below, recorded by a fan, both the hosts and judges mocked Simon upon his arrival about his unbuttoned shirt. Whilst it’s been a running joke among anyone that’s not Simon, the Got Talent boss is adamant it’ll stay unbuttoned. Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and David Walliams will join Cowell this year, as per usual.
Furthermore, Cowell also directly asked the audience to be as badly behaved as possible. The BGT judge asked the audience to ignore everything they’d been told by the show’s crew beforehand.
London auditions for the show are being filmed at the London Palladium this year. It seems quite the crowd had turned up earlier this month to see the arrival of the judges as they walked down the red carpet. That’s what we call an entrance!
Britain’s Got Talent is set to return to our screens this April on ITV.
