BBC One Wales Announces New Show Starring ‘Strictly Come Dancing’s Amy Dowden

Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer Amy Dowden is the face of a new series tentatively named Dare to Dance. This series is family-friendly and features both individuals and groups performing spectacular dance routines choreographed by Dowden.
Dances always set out to tell a story and this show is expanding on that. Each dance will be based around a big life moment or message someone wants to give. Contestants will be surprising friends and family with their messages in dance form. The series uses a proposal and a dancer who feared they’d never dance again as examples. It seems like this series will feature people with a range of dance experience. No experience is needed to be apart of Dare to Dance.
Amy Dowden Stars in BBC One Wales Newest Dance Series
Dare to Dance will premiere on BBC One Wales in 2023 early. The series is produced by Cardiff based company, Wildflame and hosted by Strictly Come Dancing‘s Amy Dowden. Dowden began dancing at eight years old. She became British National Latin Dance Champion in 2017 alongside her partner Ben Jones.
Dowden and Jones other successes include British Dance Federation Champions, English Closed Champions and Welsh Closed and Open Champions. Alone, Dowden is a four-time British National Finalist, a World Championship semi finalist, and she remains as one of the highest ranking Ballroom and Latin American professional dancers in the UK. She joined Strictly Come Dancing in 2017 and remains on the show in present day.

This series already sounds great since Dowden is one of the biggest names in professional dancing in the United Kingdom. Dare to Dance is not Dowden’s first BBC One Wales seires. The professional dancer previously starred in a documentary series focusing on Crohn’s Disease named Strictly Amy: Crohn’s & Me. This series won a British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Cymru award in the same year.
