Anthony Russell First Tried Out For ‘The X Factor UK’ 10 Years Ago
If pint-sized shiner-sporting Liverpudlian Anthony Russell looked familiar to you on last Saturday’s The X Factor UK premiere, there is probably a reason for that. This is not the first time that the Scouse singer has been in front of the judges. He auditioned back in 2007 when he was just 17-years-old.
Anthony got for yeses this time around and moved on to the actual show. The boy definitely has some serious talent. With his quirky style and boyish looks he could go far. But he did not go far when he first auditioned for the show ten years ago. At just 17 he came before the judges and sang the Bobby Darin classic Beyond the Sea. He got three yeses from Sharon Osbourne, Louis Walsh and Dannii Minogue. But Simon was not so impressed. He told Anthony that he needed to get voice lessons. Harsh, but that which does not kill us makes us stronger.
I’m not sure if he took Simon’s advice and got singing lessons or if he just practiced singing in the shower, but whatever he did paid off, obviously.
