The question that’s been on all Britain’s Got Talent fans for almost a year has been answered: Ant McPartlin will return to co-host the show with his old friend Declan Donnelly. He took some time off at the end of BGT‘s last season after some problems with substance abuse, but he says he’s all better now.
By now we all know the story. Ant was going through a rough divorce and he was drinking a lot and was arrested for a DWI. He then went into a treatment program and has taken time from all his gigs to heal, including BGT and I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! He has received tremendous support from Simon and everyone else involved. We did see him last season as he had shot the pre-taped segments of the show before the arrest. But when the live shows began, Dec hosted by himself. It must have seemed weird to Dec after hosting so many shows with Ant for years. But fret not, Dec, Ant is coming back. The announcement came through The Mirror and is being reported all over the British press.
This is the wonderful thing about the Brits. They can forgive someone messing up. We’re all human after all and we make mistakes. It’s important to remember that alcoholism is a disease and it needs proper treatment. We’re glad here at Talent Recap that Ant was able to heal and find ways of coping. That’s the key. At any rate, we know Ant is going to bring us his signature brand of wackiness to the show.
