Ant And Dec Win Big At The National Television Awards
In America we have Ryan Seacrest. In Britain they have Ant and Dec and they were rewarded for all their hard work with two National Television Awards. They are equivalent to our Emmys. This comes after a tough year for Ant McPartlin in particular.
They won best TV presenter as well as the Bruce Forsyth award for Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway. Though Britain’s Got Talent lost out for the best talent show to Strictly Come Dancing, the awards couldn’t deny that Ant and Dec are the country’s favorite performers. This comes after Ant McPartlin announced that he and his wife were getting divorced. He also spent last year in rehab for depression and drug abuse. He said,
“It’s been a tough year for me personally, quite an emotional night, so to kind of top it off with three awards has been … can I have a lie down now? I had a very tough summer last summer, I had to face up to a lot of things and my one thing was just getting back to work with my best mate.”
There’s no doubt that they are great at what they do. The job of a TV presenter is an odd one but I must say that I think the Brits have perfected it with people like Ant and Dec and Graham Norton. Not to throw shade on Ryan Seacrest or Fergie and the rest. But they could definitely learn a thing or two from our overseas cousins.
