‘American Idol’ Will Do A Live Vote During The ‘American Music Awards’

Jack Tomas | Talent Recap

For those of us waiting with baited breath for the March premiere of the rebooted American Idol, we’re going to get a taste of the show very soon. The judges have chosen a select group whose auditions will be broadcast live during the American Music Awards November 19th.

America will then vote on which one of these contestants will proceed when the show begins in March. These contestants didn’t make the initial cut but are now getting a special second chance. Lionel Richie will announce the winner on Dancing with the Stars on November 20th. They will show the auditions and the voters then have several hours to go to www.americanidol.com/vote and cast their ballot.

It’s some corporate synergy stuff par excellence at ABC. They are cross-promoting three shows in American Idol, The American Music Awards, and Dancing with the Stars. Disney, (ABC’s parent company), aren’t the biggest game in town because they are dumb.
