‘American Idol’ Makeovers — Garbage Man Gets New Teeth [VIDEO]
ABC American Idol contestants are getting some astonishing makeovers this season. For example, last night’s “This Is Me” special caught up with an eliminated contestant who debuted a new set of teeth.
And that’s not all. A contestant in the Top 20 also showed off a surprising new look on Instagram this week. Read on to find out more about these singers and their journeys on the show.
‘American Idol’ Garbage Man Gets New Teeth
Garbage man Douglas Kiker (who appeared to be missing some teeth) impressed the judges with his audition in Season 18. However, he didn’t make it past Hollywood Week. But that doesn’t mean his life wasn’t changed by the show.

Douglas shared a video update in which he shows off his new teeth. “I finally believe in myself enough to actually sing in front of people,” he said about how the show affected him. He was even asked to perform via video chat at someone’s birthday party.
In the video, the singer told his daughter that he did the show for “a better opportunity” for her, and he’s glad he did it. Judge Luke Bryan shared the video on Instagram, writing that Douglas is “looking good” and adding, “Thankful we met you buddy.”
Just Sam Gets A Makeover On Instagram
Top 20 contestant Just Sam also showed off a new look on Instagram this week. On Monday, the subway busker (who usually sports a tomboy style) shared a selfie in which she has longer hair and eyelashes.
“I was afraid to post this and other pictures like this,” she wrote, “but A CHANGE IS GONNA COME!” Her followers were quick to comment their positive reactions on the more feminine style, saying she looks “stunning” and “beautiful.” Some added that they think she looks great with either look.

Sam also wowed the judges in her Hawaii performance, sporting a skirt and a flower in her hair. “You were the definition of elegance,” Katy Perry told her. “You were beautiful and feminine. I was using the word ‘metamorphosis.'”
The comments made Sam cry. She said she felt “comfortable” and “beautiful” during her performance. We can’t wait to see what she has up her sleeve for the live shows — whenever they might be.
