‘American Idol’ Live! 2018 Tour Kicks Off
Last night was the first of 40+ shows on the American Idol Live! 2018 Tour. And from everything we’re seeing so far, the concert is a hit! Featuring this season’s Top 7 finalists, as well as Season 8 American Idol winner Kris Allen and Boy Band’s In Real Life, this tour is literally taking the show on the road. American Idol Live! gives fans the unique opportunity to be up close and personal with this season’s finalists. So if you’re thinking about getting tickets, here’s a little sneak peek of what to expect!
Let’s start with the current reigning Idol, Maddie Poppe. From clips posted last night, we can see her performing both “Going Going Gone” and “Rainbow Connection.” I also saw a short clip of Maddie singing “God Only Knows!” The live version of her first original single “Going Going Gone” includes Michael J. Woodard and Catie Turner singing back-up vocals with Cade Foehner and Caleb Lee Hutchinson playing guitar. “Rainbow Connection” showcases Maddie singing with Kris Allen on guitar and Caleb on banjo.
From all these clips, it seems like there will be no shortage of cute moments between Maddie and boyfriend Caleb Lee Hutchinson on the tour! They perform together in many of the songs we’re seeing so far. Another clip shows Caleb singing “Don’t Close Your Eyes,” a standout performance from his run on Idol. Catie Turner and Michael J. Woodard are singing back-up on the song and Cade is on electric guitar. Just listen to his little solo riff! (And I apologize in advance for the orientation being off on this video.)
Another set of videos posted to Instagram show off a few exciting performances! Not only can you see clips of some In Real Life songs here, but a number of Idol favorites too. It looks like there’s a group number with the Top 7 finalists and Kris Allen singing “There’s Nothin’ Holding Me Back” by Shawn Mendes. Gabby Barrett, Michael J. Woodard, and Jurnee also band together to sing an energetic rendition of “Bang Bang.” Finally, you can hear a snippet of Jurnee performing “Never Enough” from The Greatest Showman.
What an exciting and amazing kick off to the tour! I love that the concert brings together the Top 7 finalists in new ways and has them all perform together. It also seems like the contestants will be singing their biggest hits from the show, as these live tours have done in the past. Personally, I hope a clip of Maddie singing “Nothing Compares 2 U” surfaces soon!
The tour lasts until September 16th and includes 47 cities total. For more information on the rest of the tour, to see all the stops the American Idol Live! 2018 Tour will be making, or to buy tickets, click here: http://americanidollive.com/
