‘American Idol’ Beats ‘The Voice’ In The Ratings for The First Time
It took the finale to do it but American Idol finally beat The Voice in the ratings with its results show on Monday. Not only did it beat The Voice, it won the night. All season Idol had been lagging behind The Voice but in the last few weeks it began to catch up but it finally won.
American Idol got a 1.6 share on Monday which translates into 8.7 million viewers. The Voice, by contrast, got a 1.5 share and 8.6 million viewers. OK, it’s not a huge win but it’s a win nonetheless. Every night that The Voice went against Idol all season it beat it. Sometimes by a lot. But since the results show was Monday and The Voice‘s performances night was that evening it is easy to see why Idol won. People just tune in at the end to see who won.
The interesting thing will is to see what will happen next season. Idol picked up steam at the end and could rival The Voice. I wonder if they will pit the two shows against each other again or put Idol on a different night or a different month. We shall see.
