‘American Idol’ 2020: Premiere Date, Time And Where To Watch
It’s almost time for a new season of American Idol to premiere! The show has officially announced a date and time for the first episode of Season 18, and we can’t wait to watch.
This season, all three judges (Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryant) are back on the panel, as well as host Ryan Seacrest and in-house mentor Bobby Bones.
When Does ‘American Idol’ Premiere?
Season 18 of American Idol will premiere on Sunday, February 16, 2020, at 8/7c on ABC. The first several episodes of the show will feature auditions from hopeful singers, some of whom will receive a ticket to Hollywood.
The show shared a preview of the new season last month. It features a clip of a young man auditioning on guitar, prompting Luke to say, “I think you might be the biggest star we’ve ever had on American Idol.”
In another clip, the judges take a young woman out onto the street to get the public’s opinion on whether she should move on. And if you’re wondering, yes, the judges are still comparing contestants to past winner Kelly Clarkson.
What To Expect This Season
In addition to everything shown in the above preview video, there’s also an interesting twist to look forward to this season on American Idol. In November, the show asked fans to vote for one of three former contestants to return to the show.
After the the three artists performed on the AMAs, America voted for Season 16 contestant Layla Spring to get a second chance. Layla got a golden ticket to Hollywood, meaning she gets to skip the audition round.
This could end up working out very well for Layla. Last season’s winner Laine Hardy was a returning contestant from a previous season. If she shows enough improvement since her last time on the show, she could make it very far.
