Since Simon Cowell broke his back in a bike accident earlier this year, fans have been wondering about his condition. There’s been speculation about when he might return to TV, and his BGT co-star Amanda Holden just offered some new details.

Simon broke his back in three places after falling off an electric bike in August. He underwent surgery to place a metal rod in his back, and has since been home recovering. He had to miss the BGT and AGT live shows because of this.

Amanda Holden Gives A Simon Cowell Update

According to the Mirror, Amanda recently appeared on a video call with the talk show Loose Women to give an update on Simon Cowell’s condition. “He’s doing really well,” she said. “I keep in touch with [Simon’s girlfriend] Lauren every week, and it was his birthday yesterday, he turned 61.”

Amanda shared what Simon’s girlfriend Lauren Silverman had said about his recovery, explaining, “She said his will and his determination is brilliant and they’ve got round-the-clock care. He’ll be back I have no doubt.”

Simon has been absent during the BGT semifinals this season, with former winner Ashley Banjo filling his seat on the panel. The show is also planning a Christmas special this year, but Simon reportedly won’t be well enough to appear.

How Is Simon Doing After His Accident?

Simon recently tweeted that he was watching the America’s Got Talent finals, writing, “I wish I was there.” There were rumors that Simon might make an appearance in the finale, but that didn’t end up happening.

The mogul’s fellow judges have been optimistic about him returning to work soon, but things might be more serious than it seems. His ex-girlfriend Sinitta described his accident as “very, very scary.”

“We’re trying to keep him still,” she shared. “We’re trying to keep him more focused on being well than entertaining the nation which is difficult because he’s a workaholic.”

A source also emphasized that Simon’s injuries are “much more dramatic” than people have been letting on, adding that he’s “in a lot of pain.” The most important thing right now is for Simon to recover, even if he misses out on making TV appearances.
