Simon Cowell has been staying pretty busy while recovering from his electric bike accident and is eyeing his latest show 50 States To Stardom to air on CBS. The show is reportedly “the next big music competition series.”

Simon Cowell Has A New TV Show In The Works

Along with Simon, the series will be executively produced by Brian Grazer and Ron Howard, the founders of Imagine Entertainment. They are currently in talks with Simon’s label Syco Entertainment to finalize their deal.

The premise of the show is “Blending music competition and documentary formats, 50 States To Stardom aims at discovering great emerging talent from every part of the country” according to Deadline. “Filmed in a TV studio and in the field, over the course of a season, the series will profile each state across the U.S. and its up-and-coming artists. Using immersive and cinematic styles, the series tell the backstories and reveal the stakes for featured contestants.”

Ultimately, only one contestant will be chosen from each state which will lead up to one big showcase. The whole idea is to find America’s biggest star with a little help from America’s votes.

The show 50 States To Stardom is looking for a diverse cast of talent. A contestant does not have to be an experienced or professional singer to be on the show. They could be in high school theater or perform at coffee houses. Wherever they come from, they can be a tremendous talent to be reckoned with on the show.

Is The Concept Similar To Another Show?

This does sound like another show that is currently being pitched, American Song Contest. The show that promises to find talent from all 50 states is a new version of The Eurovision Song Contest set to premiere around the holidays in 2021.

According to Yahoo! Entertainment,“Professional musical artists — solo singers, duos or groups up to six members — from each of the 50 states and across every musical genre will perform all original songs on the live televised event.” The artists will be put in head to head battles with the winners moving on to the next round until they make it to the grand finale.

The concepts of the two shows sound similar. So far it has not been announced which network the American Song Contest will air on.

Simon Cowell’s Show ‘AGT: Champions’ Will Not Be Returning In Its Usual Time Slot

NBC confirmed that Simon’s other show ‘AGT: Champions’ will not be returning in January. It has aired in the winter for the past two seasons. The show is not canceled just yet so there is a chance that it will be filmed and aired at a later date. This is just one of the many blows that the producer and judge has taken this year after suffering from his electric bike accident.

If you want to know more details about Simon’s accident and the six-hour surgery he had to undergo, check out the video below. The accident led to Simon missing ‘AGT’ and ‘BGT’ filming as he was on the mend. He recently stepped out for a chill day with his family. It seems like he is ready to get back to business producing a show like 50 States To Stardom.
