Alicia Keys Is Bringing Shawn Mendes On As An Advisor On ‘The Voice’
One of the my favorite parts of The Voice is when the coaches bring on some superstar to help advise the contestants. Alicia Keys is returning this year to The Voice after taking season 13 off. She’s bringing in the big guns to help her guide the young singers. Namely, one of the biggest recording artists out right now: Shawn Mendes.
Alicia Keys, to me, is one of the strongest coaches in the history of The Voice. She certainly gives Blake a run for his money and she won season 12 with Chris Blue. With Shawn Mendes by her side she might take this year’s prize as well. Shawn told Entertainment tonight,
“I was like, I feel like I should be getting in front of the microphone and singing, and asking her for advice. I think there was one moment that I was sitting there halfway through a song and I’m like, ‘Am I really sitting here right now with her being an adviser? I’m 19 years old!’ So this is really crazy.”
Even though he’s young he’s certainly savvy enough to have hit the big time and he can help some of the younger contestants navigate the tricky world of fame. Blake is going to bring on Trace Atkins as his advisor. At least in my world that’s much less impressive. Kelly Clarkson will have Hailee Steinfeld and Adam Levine will bring on Julia Michaels.
