Fans of American Idol runner-up Alejandro Aranda have a lot to be excited for this week. Not only did the singer announce a roster of tour dates for this fall, but he also signed a recording contract and revealed he’s working on an album.
According to Variety, Alejandro has signed with Hollywood Records. That’s the same label winner Laine Hardy signed with earlier this year. It’s also past-season winner Maddie Poppe’s label. The American Idol connection makes sense, since the label is owned by Disney, which owns ABC.
Alejandro and Laine have both announced that they’re working on albums, and Alejandro has even teased a new single to be released this Friday. Laine says he’ll be working on the album in Nashville. He’s already been taking the music charts by storm since his win, so we can’t wait to hear it.
And Alejandro isn’t the only Idol alum to announce a major recording contract this week. Variety also reports that Gabby Barrett, who was a Season 16 finalist, has signed with Warner Music Nashville. She teased the deal during an appearance on the show earlier this year when she performed her single “I Hope.”
It’s not the only exciting news Gabby has shared in the past few months. In March, she and fellow American Idol alum Cade Foehner announced that they’re engaged. It seems like 2019 is really her year.
We can’t wait to hear more from all of these artists as they release new music. Season 16 winner Maddie Poppe recently released her own first album, Whirlwind, and it looks like she’ll have some great company soon.
