‘AGT’s Duo Transcend Shuts Down Accusations of Drop as Publicity Stunt
Youtube One of the most captivating acts on this season of America’s Got Talent is Duo Transcend. Duo Transcend is a husband and wife pair of trapeze artists, Mary and Tyce, who perform gravity-defying stunts. The two made their return to the show last night after a big mistake in the Judge Cuts almost cost them their chance at moving on. But not everyone was so convinced the drop was an accident. Could this mistake have been an intentional publicity stunt?
Comments on the original video included these:
“I’m sorry but that was not real and it was staged for drama and the gasp factor. Watch close and pay attention to everything happening production wise when she ‘falls.'”
“You’re all so gullible. This was staged. He didn’t even remove his blindfold asap to check on his wife lol. He knew she’s okay because this is how they practiced it. And please don’t tell me he’s blind. He can still see in his other eye.”
“Looking at the replay, it seems it was rehearsed to drop her for ratings. Planned stunt artist if you ask me.”
Well, Duo Transcend made it VERY clear in our interview with them yesterday that that is NOT the case. Tyce told us:
“I would never EVER purposely drop my wife on her head. That is something that I would never plan to do.”
Then, Mary followed that up by saying:
“Especially in front of our son. He was in the audience. So if we had planned something like that as a publicity stunt, I would not have my mom or my son in the audience. He’s only two, he doesn’t understand if it’s fake or real.”
To finish responding to the question, Tyce responded:
“We take risks, that’s part of our life, but we don’t take those kinds of risks.”
Though the conspiracy theories are all over the internet, it’s hard for me to believe a man would plan and practice to drop his wife on national television. Even if it is for AGT! Duo Transcend is good enough, in my opinion, to get by without any gimmicky stunts. Their bond, strength, and flexibility speaks for itself! And after redeeming themselves last night, I have a feeling we’ll be seeing more of them.
