It’s time for more America’s Got Talent Judge Cuts, this time with The Office and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt‘s Ellie Kemper! We saw seven more acts advance to the live shows this week, meaning eleven were eliminated. Let’s take a look at the results.
Ellie Kemper’s Golden Buzzer: Light Balance Kids
Light Balance Kids was the clear standout act of the evening, so it came as no surprise when Ellie used her Golden Buzzer to immediately send them through! They brought out new tricks and new technology this time around, stuff we didn’t even see the original adult Light Balance group do. This legacy act is definitely living up to the original, and now they have a Golden Buzzer to match!
The Acts Advancing To The Live Shows
Tonight’s results were definitely surprising. On the whole, most people didn’t seem to do as well as in auditions so it was kind of hard to tell who would advance. Impressionist Greg Morton did pretty well with his movie impressions, but his act was all-over-the-map compared to his more focused Star Wars one in the first round. Here’s hoping he can bring back a clear theme to tie his next performance together a bit better.
The polish teen guitarist is a rare talent and it was once again on full display in Judge Cuts. Julianne Hough even predicted that Marcin may very well win the whole thing! Winner or not, this kid is making a name for himself.
Nick & Lidsay: Sidshow Opera
Sideshow Opera‘s Judge Cuts performance was similar to Greg’s in that the tricks were good but the act as a whole felt disjointed and all over the place. (The singing definitely improved from auditions, though!)
Julianne made a good point about Mackenzie when she said his first performance felt natural and this one felt a bit forced at points. It was still pretty strong and he could end up going far in the competition.
Carmen Carter put a nice twist on The Beatles’ “Come Together” and her charisma made her one of the standouts of the night.
Gonzo making it through was a surprise, but his performance was fun and we are here for it.
Acts That Were Eliminated
There are some acts that were montaged, like illusionist Nicholas Wallace, Italian dancer Patrizzio Ratto and French acrobatic couple Duo MainTenanT. Here are some of the acts that were actually showcased but were sent home at the end of the night.
Edson & Leon
If you didn’t like the results tonight you can make your voice heard. Guess what, there will be some “wildcard” acts who will come back in the quarterfinals. Which act would you bring back as a wildcard?
