‘AGT’ Kid Rapper Patches Did NOT Use the N Word on the Show

Maddoc Johnson, a 13-year-old rapper who goes by Patches, lit up the AGT stage this week with an original rap. His act was unexpected, especially coming from a young boy dressed in a suit. Patches spit some sick rhymes and shocked both the judges and audience with his flow! In case you missed it, you can watch the performance here:
Now, did you catch anything in the lyrics? Specifically at 2:02 into the video?
To some fans of the show, it sounds like he says the N word. After the clip posted online, a handful viewers questioned Patches’ lyrics in the rap. One fan asked, “What is he saying?” at that point in the clip. Another fan responded, “You can get a clue by Tyra’s facial expression.” Other comments included “I’m pretty sure he said the n word,” “I heard it too I had to rewind it a few times,” “I came on here just to see if anyone else heard it too lmao,” and “he said the n word yikes.”
But AGT responded to a direct tweet by saying:
So according to AGT and the closed captions, what he’s saying there is, “I walk out on the stage, bright lights on my face. The excitement is buzzing all over the place.” Where people are hearing the N word, it’s actually the second half of “excitement.”
To sum it all up, the answer is no. Patches definitely did NOT use the N word in his rap, despite claims from viewers who think they heard it.
