‘AGT’ Golden Buzzer Roberta Battaglia Sends A Message To Her Bullies
This week on America’s Got Talent, 10-year-old Roberta Battaglia earned the Golden Buzzer from judge Sofia Vergara. The young singer has a voice beyond her years, and she’s headed for stardom.
After her performance, Roberta revealed that she gets bullied sometimes. Simon Cowell told her you “win over bullies” by “being happy and successful.” Later, Roberta shared more about her struggles with bullying.
Roberta Battaglia’s Message For Bullies
In an interview with AGT comedian Preacher Lawson, Roberta shared how music has helped her deal with being bullied. “I feel relaxed,” she said. “I just completely forget about all the bullying and all the hard times in my life when I’m singing.”
Preacher told Roberta she won’t get bullied anymore after appearing on America’s Got Talent. Then he asked her what message she would send to the people who have bullied her over the years.
“You tried to win, and you tried to beat me up and bully me,” Roberta said. “But you know what, now I’m standing strong, and I’m here at America’s Got Talent. And I got the Golden Buzzer.”
How Did Roberta’s Dad React To Her Golden Buzzer?
Roberta’s father is her biggest inspiration as a singer. “If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t have this,” she said. “He’s been guiding me.” She added that her parents are also sometimes her critics, and she loves them for that.
Roberta’s dad couldn’t be there when she auditioned for AGT, but she video chatted with him afterwards to show off the gold confetti she received for her Golden Buzzer.
In a clip from the show, Roberta’s dad can be heard cheering when she reveals how she did. “When I got home, we shared a wonderful hug, and that was his reaction,” Roberta told Preacher.
