AGT: The Champions Season 2 continued on Monday night, as the second week of preliminary performances kicked off. There were plenty of surprises this time, including a stolen Golden Buzzer, a danger act gone wrong, and an unexpected appearance from a past AGT winner.
This year, ten acts will compete in each preliminary round. Three of them will move on to the semifinals, while one Golden Buzzer act will be sent straight through to the finals. Check out the second week’s performances below.
‘AGT Champions’ Season 2 Continues
This singer from the Philippines won Pilipinas Got Talent in 2011. His wife joined him on stage to support him before his performance of “The Prayer.” Marcelito shocked the judges with his ability to sing in both male and female voices. Alesha praised him for being “different” and “unique.” Simon called it “a ten.”
Golden Buzzer: Boogie Storm
This dancing group made a splash on Britain’s Got Talent. They’re known for performing in Stormtrooper costumes. They made their AGT debut with a high-energy performance to various songs. Simon, their biggest fan, gave them a standing ovation.
Tonight was Howie’s turn to press the Golden Buzzer, and Simon pressured him to do it, but he refused. Then Simon ended up doing it for him! Howie wasn’t the only one who thought the act wasn’t deserving. Heidi Klum suggested that it wasn’t as good as Simon seems to think.
This former AGT contestant is a mentalist whose act revolves around his apparent ability to read people’s minds. Tonight’s routine involved reading the judges’ minds and then coming up with a number to match a random dollar bill from the audience. Alesha praised his stage presence, while Simon called it “incredible.”
This danger performer had a crossbow act go wrong on BGT in 2016. He decided to recreate that act tonight, once again including judge Alesha Dixon. The judges ended up buzzing him to stop when things didn’t go right. Simon said he thought something bad might have happened if he didn’t stop.
This musical theatre singing group won Britain’s Got Talent 2014. They shared their hope of making it big in America. Tonight, they performed “Shallow” from A Star Is Born. Alesha said she’s seen better performances from them, and Heidi said they just sounded “nice.” However, Howie disagreed with them and praised the performance.
This stand-up comedian came in third place last season on AGT. He’s back to win this time, as he continued to share funny stories about his disability. Tonight, he talked about what it’s been like to be recognized after the show. Howie called it a “Golden Buzzer moment” and said he was mad at Simon. “Thank you so much for being funny!” Heidi said.
Puddles Pity Party
This singing clown made it to the quarterfinals of AGT Season 12. He returned to the stage to perform “I Want to Know What Love Is” by Foreigner. He included photos of the judges’ dogs on the screen behind him as he sang. Howie called Puddles “special,” but Alesha questioned if he was good enough to win the show.
This magician competed on BGT in 2018, and then returned to the show as a masked character called X, making it to the finals. Tonight, he donned his X mask and performed a trick in which he predicted the judges’ choices. The ultimate twist came when AGT winner Shin Lim made a shocking cameo under the mask! Once again, Howie said he would have chosen this as his Golden Buzzer.
This young singer chased his dream to become a Broadway performer last season on AGT. He said he’s changing up his musical style for AGT: The Champions. Tonight, he performed Celine Dion’s song “Ashes.” Simon said he didn’t like his song choice, and said it didn’t show off his range. However, the audience clearly loved it.
This former AGT contestant has had an act go wrong in the past. Then, when practicing his latest act, he injured his head. His doctor advised against him performing, but he went ahead with it anyway. The judges went outside to watch him try to escape a box full of water hoisted above the ground. Heidi called him a “nutjob” but said he was “amazing.”
