‘AGT’ Champ Shin Lim Reveals The Best Kept Secrets To His Tricks

Ever wonder how Season 13 AGT winner Shin Lim achieves his amazing magic tricks? In a new video from AGT‘s Talent University, Shin reveals the secrets to two of his tricks, so you can try them at home.
Shin Lim has a magic show in Las Vegas, and he won the first season of AGT: The Champions last year. So it feels like quite an honor to learn a few tricks of the trade from him.
Shin Lim Teaches The Card Spring Trick
The first trick Shin Lim teaches in the new video is called the “card spring.” It’s a flourish that involves letting the cards fall out of one hand and catching them with the other.

Shin shows off the necessary finger positions, making sure to let left-handed magicians know that they should mirror everything he does. “This might take a lot of practice and a lot of strength,” Shin advises, acknowledging that your hand might not be strong enough at first.
The magician added that you shouldn’t try to get the cards too far away when you first start. Instead, just focus on getting the cards to “spring off of the thumb.” He shared, “Don’t be discouraged, just keep going.”
How To Do The First Trick Shin Ever Learned
Shin went on to teach the “slip force,” which he says is the first card trick he ever learned. It involves predicting the exact card someone will pick from the deck, using some sneaky sleight of hand.

The magician asks someone to say which card in the deck to stop on. The trick involves moving the pre-selected card onto the top of the deck, making the person think it was chosen randomly. You’ll also need a duplicate card to place in your pocket.
Shin encourages aspiring musicians to “practice as much as possible,” in front of family and friends. Do you think you’ll try one of these tricks? Let us know in the comments.
