Simon Cowell is still on the mend from his electric bike accident that required him to undergo a six-hour back surgery in August. The entertainment mogul missed out on both ‘AGT’ and ‘BGT’ filming after speculation grew that he was making his television return sometime soon. Now an insider close to Simon has finally revealed to The Sun what we can expect for Simon’s recovery.

If you would like to know more details about Simon’s accident, check out the video above where we go through everything that happened on that scary day. It takes a deep dive into Simon’s surgery along with how he was spending his time in recovery at the hospital. Plus, we talk about who filled in for him on ‘AGT’ during that time.

Simon Cowell Is Expected To Be Away From The Spotlight For A While

Simon was expected to record a video message for the recent ‘BGT’ finale but was not feeling up to it. Previously, it was suspected that he would actually make his first live television experience since the accident. “But he’s also quite vain and the idea of going on national TV with no studio make-up, and while on heavy-duty medication, didn’t appeal. So, unfortunately, he had to decline producers’ requests” the source said.

Now, it seems it could take up to six months for Simon to fully recover from this injury. He is on strong medication currently and does have a full-time nurse by his side. Since the accident, Simon has been very quiet on social media and hasn’t commented much about ‘AGT’ or ‘BGT.’

He has been undergoing physical therapy and walking around his garden along with exercises in the pool to help. Though he has been sidelined by this injury, “Simon is joking and in decent spirits” according to the insider. However, he “thought he’d be out of action for a few weeks and then, if not doing iron man contests, at least be back on the showbiz circuit.”

“It’s been a rough few weeks,” the source said. “He’s on the mend and trying to be patient which is not something that comes terribly naturally to him.”

How Has Simon Been Spending His Time At Home?

Simon who is obviously a workhorse has been saddled up at his Malibu home with partner Lauren Silverman and their six-year-old son Eric. They recently just quietly celebrated his 61st birthday. Simon’s ex-girlfriend Terri Seymour threw a birthday party for him.

While at home, Simon has also been selling many of his multiple properties including the home he bought from Leona Lewis. Real estate has definitely become his post-surgery niche.

He has been a family man for the past few years and even ditched his Los Angeles bachelor pad to settle down in a quieter life with his family. “Simon absolutely loves this house, and for a while, it was his dream home,” A source told The Sun. “But also it holds one too many showbiz memories. Now that he has a son and a long-term partner, he wants to lead a simpler life. [He wants to] create new memories not revolving around rock n’ roll, TV or parties.”
