A Petition To Bring DeAndre Nico Back to ‘The Voice’ is Blowing Up Online
One week later, and everyone is still talking about the drama on last Tuesday’s The Voice results show. Fans were none too pleased when coach Adam Levine, faced with losing at least one of his two remaining artists at the end of the night, openly encouraged fans to vote to save Regan Strange – who didn’t even sing that night – over DeAndre Nico, who did do a number and gave a strong performance.
The night ended with Strange barely being saved over Nico, prompting outrage on social media that has still lingered as we’ve arrived at the semi-finals and will soon be heading into the last week of the competition.
As with many reality show “injustices” a fan has set up an online petition for The Voice to bring DeAndre back to compete. However, this one has gained more traction than a lot of the other we’ve seen in the past, receiving well over 12,000 signatures since its creation.
It’s not entirely clear as to whether the intention of the petition is to have DeAndre take Regan’s spot or simply have him return to the show and compete alongside all of the remaining contestants – the creator said the purpose would be to “Bring DeAndre back so he can compete again for when Reagan can perform.” – but I’m leaning towards the goal being for him to replace her, because part of the outrage that inspired the petition was Regan not singing for the Instant Save. The creator said, “In my opinion, If you are unable to deliver/perform, you should not move forward. You have one shot and no excuses in this world”.
It doesn’t look like the petition is going to work, but hopefully if it reaches more people Adam Levine will finally address the situation head-on, after making many fans even more mad by simply brushing it off in last night’s episode.
