“Honestly, I never thought I’d see the day,” he said of his four years of sobriety. “It’s easy to find an excuse to feel pretty down about yourself, situation in life, or the world in general to a point where drinking/using seems like the obvious choice for a better reality, but they are all just that, excuses.”

Ian is engaged to his partner Ayla.

In October, Ian announced on Instagram that he and his partner Ayla are engaged. Ayla has a daughter named Kamea. Earlier this month, Ian celebrated Kamea’s seventh birthday on Instagram, writing, “We’ve already been on a thousand adventures together and I couldn’t be more proud of the little woman she’s become.”

He travels with his family in a motorhome.

Ian Flanigan is originally from Saugerties, New York. However, last year, Ian and his family started touring in an RV. He documents their adventures on the Instagram account @flanivantours. Ian also has a Patreon account, and he even posts vlogs about his life on YouTube. Earlier this year, they renovated their RV, which Ian documented on video.

Ian says ‘The Voice’ “saved” him and his family.

The COVID-19 pandemic had an effect on the music industry this year, and that includes Ian Flanigan. He was performing his last scheduled gig in Nashville when a talent scout from The Voice approached him.

“I feel really lucky to have one of the only gigs going on in America,” Ian said in an interview. “We were sitting in a trailer park with eighty bucks at the time and this kind of saved us. I’m incredibly grateful for this experience.” He added of his fellow artists, “A lot of people might not come back from this, and this is a really big hit to the entire planet and the arts industry in general.”

He and his fiancée started a music company.

Ian and Ayla started a company called Nightcap Entertainment, which helps artists promote their music by consulting with them about music videos, merchandise, photoshoots, and more. Ian himself released an EP called Give Me Color last year, and he said in an interview that he’s working on another collection of 30 songs.

Be sure to tune in to this week’s first live show to see Ian Flanigan perform on The Voice. He’ll be competing against the remaining artists from all four teams for a chance to remain in the competition.
