16-Year-Old Singer Stuns Coaches With Bold Frank Sinatra Song On ‘The Voice’ [VIDEO]

Emma Boertien was just 16 years old when she auditioned for The Voice of Holland in 2019. Her voice had a very classic sound as if she had been singing old school Frank Sinatra tunes for decades. She completely stunned all of the coaches in what was one of the most memorable auditions in the show’s history. Check it out below.
Emma Boertien Had The Coaches Falling In Love With Her Frank Sinatra Cover
Emma performed the famous Sinatra song “My Way” which was popularized in 1969. It is not often that such a young artist performs such a classic hit. You could literally hear a pin drop as Emma’s angelic voice filled the theater. Within the first 20 seconds of the song, she had gotten her first chair turn from coach Lil Kleine. Once she reached the chorus of the song, two more coaches, Waylon and Ali B turned their chairs because they realized Emma’s voice truly is unreal.

Before the final note of the song, the last coach, Anouk turned her chair. They sang Emma’s praises in their critiques and battled each other to try and convince her to join their teams. Ultimately, it was a tough decision but she chose to be on Team Waylon. Waylon first made a name for himself performing at Eurovision several times before finishing second on Holland’s Got Talent. A former talent competition contestant himself propelled Emma through the show with loads of great advice.
In the Battle Rounds, Emma performed the song “Somewhere Only We Know.” She of course advanced all the way to the live shows and dominated the competition each week. At the finale, she performed “My Way” again this time with an even more stripped-down version. She finished the competition in third place overall.
Where Is Emma Now?
After appearing on The Voice, Emma had her sights set on pursuing a music career. She continues to post covers on Instagram, sporting her new freshly dyed blonde locks.
She also posted a list of things she has been doing to keep herself busy during the coronavirus pandemic including “Learn a new language” and “Make a lot of music (or just dance a lot on music).”
She also recently did this interview talking about her experience on The Voice of Holland and how it has changed her life. But, she also got real about facing some major setbacks brought on by the coronavirus pandemic. She said that after The Voice, she had quite a few gigs, but most of her plans obviously had to come to a halt. But for her, the main thing is just to “remain positive.” The singer now studies jazz and pop at Utrechts Conservatorium.
