15-Year-Old Blind Pakistani Singer Breaks Down Crying Mid Performance On ‘BGT’ Semi-Final Performance [VIDEO]
One of the most memorable performances from this week’s BGT semifinals came from Sirine Jahangir. The 15-year-old singer, who has been blind since she was 9 years old, became emotional as she performed.
Will Sirine make it to the BGT finals this season? Check out her moving semifinals performance below, and read on to find out what the judges had to say.
Sirine Jahangir Performs In The ‘BGT’ Semifinals
Sirine has been singing her whole life, and started playing the piano when she was 5 years old. She started losing her vision at 7. “If I hadn’t lost my vision, I don’t think I’d be as in love with music as I am now,” she shared.
She says music takes her to her “own world,” where she has “no limitations.” During Saturday’s BGT semifinals show, she performed at a piano covered in butterflies, with the words “You’re not alone” on the side.
Sirine performed “Carry You” by Ruelle. Toward the end of her performance, she started to tear up from the emotion. Judges Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon looked emotional as they watched her. All four BGT judges then gave her a standing ovation.
Hosts and Ant and Dec checked in with Sirine to make sure she was all right, and she smiled as she responded, “Yes. I don’t know why I cried.”
What Did The Judges Think Of Sirine’s Performance?
Amanda Holden had tears in her eyes as she told Sirine, “I really felt for you there at the end.” She called it a “magical” and “angelic” performance. She said Sirine has “something unique,” adding, “I think you’re going to be huge.”
Guest BGT judge Ashley Banjo said the performance “transported” him, and Alesha Dixon said it took her breath away. David Walliams said he hoped she was crying “happy tears.” Sirine confirmed that she was.
Sirine was in the BGT judges’ top three acts of the night. When it came time to choose which act would move straight to the finals, three of the judges voted for Magical Bones instead, but Amanda said she would have voted for Sirine.
It’s now up to the audience to decide whether Sirine will make it to the finals. Do you think she deserved the judges’ vote? Let us know in the comments below.
