Souparnika Nair’s Britain’s Got Talent audition already proved that she was a star in the making. We didn’t know it was possible for the Indian powerhouse vocalist to wow us even more during her semifinals performance. Check out the 10-year-old belt her heart out in the performance below.
Souparnika Nair Received A Standing Ovation From The ‘BGT’ Judges
Souparnika joined seven other contestants vying for a spot in Britain’s Got Talent finals. The primary school student first blew everyone away during her audition where Simon made her sing two songs. It was her rendition of “Never Enough” that had everyone stunned at her tremendous talent. “It’s always been my dream to sing on stage and perform for people, but my audition wasn’t easy. I was nervous” she said. “Once Simon stopped the song, I thought I had messed up.” For the semifinals, Souparnika sang “Neverland” by Zendaya, and what an incredible song choice it was to highlight the range of her voice. Souparnika received a standing ovation from the judges. Ashley Banjo who is filling in for Simon Cowell on the judging panel while he recovers from his electric bike accident was actually jumping up and down with excitement.
“That was amazing and I love what you do. It’s so classic and timeless and beautiful and I can’t remember the show ever opening with somebody getting a standing ovation” David Walliams said. “I felt the virtual audience tuning into you. They really supported you,” Alesha Dixon said. “You got up there and you did a fantastic job and you should be really proud of yourself, well done.” Amanda Holden was floured that Souparnika is only 10 years old but has such a big voice and stage presence. “You were so composed, that was so confident and such a gorgeous performance,” she said. Ashley also sang his praises for Souparnika’s performance. “You didn’t just raise the bar, you raised it massively” he said. “On a technical level that vocal is so precise for a 10-year-old it was pitch-perfect.”
Will Souparnika Make It To The Final?
At the end of the night, the judges had to choose their top three performances. They chose Souparnika along with Aaron & Jasmine and The Coven. Two judges voted for Aaron & Jasmine, and two voted for The Coven. Head judge Amanda Holden chose Aaron & Jasmine, so they’re going through to the ‘BGT’ finals. The remaining seven acts were then up for a public vote. We will find out who went through at the ‘BGT’ final in October. Souparnika is just one of the many talented Indian acts that we have seen on talent competitions on recent years. Check out our host Mriganka breaking down some of the best Indian ‘Got Talent’ auditions and where they are now. Hint, Souparnika is one of them!
Souparnika and her family emigrated to the UK in 2014. She was born in Kerala’s Trivandrum and already had a huge interest in music as early as two years old. Her family encouraged her to sing and play piano starting at the age of five. Her first live television performance was on Michael McIntyre’s Big Show where she put on a memorable performance of “I Dreamed A Dream” in front of 2,000 people at the London Palladium. So, she already has an incredible fanbase behind her along with those who have watched her covers on YouTube for a while. This should definitely give her an edge when it comes time for voting. We definitely think Souparnnika will make it to the ‘BGT’ final.
